TEN STAR PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR AT THE NAIJA SUPER 8 IN LAGOS

The Naija Super 8 is a preseason exhibition tournament being held in Lagos Nigeria from 7th July to 16 July 2023. The teams are chosen based on the votes per the six geopolitical zone of the country Nigeria.

Two teams were chosen per the most votes per region which saw them advance to the playoffs in Eket. The twelve teams would produce six teams which would further be joined by two wild card teams for the main tournament. The winners of the playoffs being Katsina United, Lobi Stars, Remo Stars, Rivers United, Yobe Desert Stars and Enyimba whilst the wild cards where NPFL teams Akwa United and newly promoted Sporting Lagos.

However, the tournament will not only parade the top teams in Nigerian football but also major talents and star players to watch out for from all participating teams who are guaranteed 9 Million Naira for participating.

OZOR CHINEDU

Chinedu Ozor did not join Lobi Stars in a contradiction to popular reports before the 2023 season and this was as a result of a last minute squad trimming.


Nonetheless, the ex sunshine stars defender joined NNL outfit Yobe desert stars who initially were on track for a possibility in returning to the NPFL up until when they had their points deducted by the league board for violence conduct by fans.

They did though qualify for the super six playoffs in Eket and surprisingly beat North East favorites Gombe United by 2-1. Chinedu of course played in the game as a central defender and performed outstandingly winning the man of the match award. He will also massively attract interest in Lagos when they play their first game against Akwa United on Saturday.


JAMES AJAKO


James Ajako is no stranger to defensive and offensive performances this season already as a young left back with Akwa United Football Club.

With three goals and four assists with six clean sheets to his credit, Ajako had the third best rating for player on the pitch by an  Akwa United player when they finished fourth in group A of the regular season in the Nigerian Premier Football League

In what looked relatively less in terms of outline to his average of brilliant season so far inwhich he later confirmed confessing his dissapoitment on the outcome: Ajako managed a pass accuracy of 80%, won 7/10 duels and completed 28/35 passes as per NPFL TransferMarket.

CHIGOZIE CHILEKWU 

Chigozie Chilekwu has never lost a game in which he has started for Enyimba International this season. In his six games as a defender he's scored one goal and assisted another which was the title winning goal while getting three clean sheets.

Wisdom Ndon

One of the new revolutions of Akwa United's defensive reformation last season was Wisdom Ndon. The 18 year old was impressive in almost every game he played in the closing games of the regular season.

Ndon who's was picked from Ibom Youths had been a standout player and will be keen to make his mark in Lagos as he continues to attract interest from clubs around the country.
