The Akure Gunners will now have a chance to go higher on the log from six in spite of the fact that they now have an outstanding game. They currently occupy sixth position on the log with seventeen points, a place above Sunday's opponents Enugu Rangers whom they had held to a draw away in the reverse fixture in Anambra in the game which ended 1-1 with both goals coming from Sunshine Stars: Ikemdinachi scoring an own goal in the first half before Ibrahim Yusuf scored the equalizer in the second half.

The last eight meetings between the two sides has produced four draws and two victories for each side equalling their head to head record. But the recent form of the teams speak a different build up to clash: Sunshine Stars have lost just one game in their last four whilst their Coach Abdu Maikaba led visitors have picked up just one win in their last four despite the signing of dazzling midfielder Austin Osayande from Dakkada FC
However form aside, Sunshine Stars winger David Onovo has assured supporters of the club that team are fully prepared to go up against Rangers for three points this weekend:

"There's never an easy game in this league, its a very tough league but we've played Rangers this season and we've learnt a thing or two from the way they play so we are prepared." Onovo said while talking to NPFL TransferMarket

"We're motivated because I feel that we had more time to train towards the game after our last game was postponed so I think everyone is eager to give in our best to impress our fans and the coach"

Sunshine Stars play both Rangers and Abia Warriors in back to back games which are the two teams below and above them respectively with eighteen and thirteen points as well at the moment in group B of the Nigerian Premier Football League in fifth and seventh place.
