NIGERIAN PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH WEEK ELEVEN REVIEW

Match week eleven in the Nigerian Premier Football League had some outstanding results take centre stage as reported by Orange Football Magazine, with a total of eighteen goals scored from nine games recording five home wins, three draws and one away win which significantly turned out to be the biggest away win of the Nigerian Premier Football League in the 21st century.


Kano Pillars' winger, Yusuf Abdullahi, emerged as the standout player when Sai Masu Gida secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Gombe United in one of the remaining fixtures of match day 11 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) played last Sunday. Coach Abdu Maikaba's team had an exceptional performance, with Abdullahi netting all the goals, helping them secure their inaugural away points this season.

Abdullahi opened the scoring twice within the initial 15 minutes of the game before Sadiq Shuaibu reduced the deficit for the hosts. However, Abdullahi responded with two more goals, flanking Gombe's Ahmed Jimoh's strike, reestablishing Pillars' two-goal advantage before halftime. The winger completed his remarkable day by scoring once more around the hour mark, becoming the first player in the NPFL to score five goals away from home in a single match.

Meanwhile, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Bendel Insurance claimed a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars in Benin.

A late goal from Junior Osaghae in the 95th minute secured the triumph for the Benin Arsenals. This win elevates Monday Odige’s side to the fifth position with 17 points, while Lobi Stars retain the second spot pending Remo Stars' match at home against Plateau United

Elsewhere, Sikiru Alimi's ninth-season goal propelled Remo Stars to the top of the league table with a 1-0 victory against Plateau United. Additionally, Nelson Abiam's goal guided Doma United to a win over Niger Tornadoes in Gombe on Saturday. Sporting Lagos, Bendel Insurance, and Enyimba also secured narrow 1-0 victories against Katsina United, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars, respectively.

Enyimba of Aba, the reigning champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches against Sunshine Stars of Akure, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Mbaoma Chijoke clinched the decisive goal from a penalty in added time during the first half, ensuring George Finidi’s team claimed the win.

Maintaining their position in fourth place, Enyimba holds 19 points from 11 games and is set to face Katsina United in their upcoming Sunday fixture.



The clash between former champions Shooting Stars and Heartland ended goalless at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. Meanwhile, Akwa United and Kwara United settled for a 1-1 draw, with Kwara's Adewale Adeyinka making a crucial save from a late penalty kick.


Uche Collins opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 40th minute after Abbey Benson handled Salomon Chigoziem’s cross in the box. However, Yusuf Sadeeq equalized two minutes later for Kwara United.

In Gombe, league leaders Doma United triumphed with a 1-0 win against Tornadoes. The home team endured a tense finale to preserve the victory, courtesy of Nelson Abiam’s headed goal in the initial half.

Moreover, Osayi Kingdom secured a seventh consecutive clean sheet, accumulating 630 minutes of NPFL action. His stellar performances have earned him consideration for a potential call-up to the Super Eagles camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. 


On Sunday, Robert Mizo's two late goals salvaged Bayelsa United from another home defeat against Abia Warriors.
