SADEEQ YUSUF STRIKE EARNS KWARA UNITED A DRAW IN BENIN


Kwara United faced a challenging match today, on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, and settled for a 2-2 draw in their Matchday Nine clash held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State.

This draw marks Kwara United's second away from home, following a previous goalless draw against Rivers United in Port Harcourt. The game began with Sadeeq Yusuf breaking the deadlock for Kwara United in the 14th minute, courtesy of a through pass from Shola AbdulRaheem. However, Stephen Sodje equalized for the home team with a powerful strike from outside the box.

Kwara United, displaying adept positional play and remarkable agility, regained the lead in the 37th minute through Godwin Oshagbemi, who, surprisingly placed as the left full-back, skillfully converted a pass from Shola AbdulRaheem for the second goal.

Despite Insurance's intensified efforts to secure victory, Kwara United's staunch defense thwarted all their threatening moves, heightening tension as the game progressed.

Kwara United made three substitutions during the game to maintain their performance level. Abiodun Omolaoye replaced Samson Paul early in the second half, while Musa Abdulafeez and Omaka Anthony came in for Ovoke Bernard and Sadeeq Yusuf, respectively.


In a dramatic turn, Ismail Serki scored the equalizer in the 90+3rd minute, a goal disputed by Kwara United players who claimed a potential Fair Play violation in the lead-up, as per the referee's decision.


Next, Kwara United is set to face Gombe United in the Matchday 10 encounter at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin, scheduled for next Sunday.
