VICTOR OSIMHEN | SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE FULL PRESS CONFERENCE

 

Ahead of their last AFCON 2024 qualifying game against Sao Tome and Principe, the Super Eagles of Nigeria had a media parley today at their camp in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State precisely at Four Points by Sheraton where they met with journalists to answer different questions in respect to the clash on Sunday and two Serie A Superstars spoke to Orange Football Media.

Samuel Chukwueze on Victor Osimhen winning the Balon D'or: He's a fantastic player Victor, he is strong and quick, for me i wish we could just close some eyes and give him the award and for the CAF Player of the year because i don't see any body matching him although i think there are some good players like Salah and Mahrez who did well last season but I think victor was miles ahead of them but i don't want them to count this way because Mahrez won the treble with Man City but I do think Victor deserves the award because he deserves everything.

Osimhen on the game on sunday: We are actually serious about this game because in the previous matches we have been upset by Central African Republic and Guinea Bissau at home here so for us, its also a huge one for us regardless we don't have to disrespect Sao Tome and we will really go in hard for this for this game and we are ready to get the points and finish well in the qualifiers

I think we've got the vision just like the coach always says we all believe we can, just like every other team in Africa and we've been working so hard, we can't deny the fact that we have the quality in the team and for me i think with hardwork and dedication i think we stand a chance of getting the trophy the way other team believes so of course we are ready step by step, sunday we have the game to prepare and finish well then by febuary we prepare for the Afcon.

For me i don't think about it, to be among the 30 man shortlist for me its a huge one, its like a huge trophy for me, if anything comes after that i will also give God the glory but for now i think i deserve every good thing that comes my way because i put in a lot of work through the years, blood sweat and tears and huge and so i derserve to be among the list and congratulations to the winner. For those that know me and have seen me grow from where i have come from from my communities its a huge win for them as well so i give God all the glory.

For me i'm still the same person, God has blessed me so much and i don't think i have to go around like a celebrity. All those things they are saying is just cruise which is normal and anyone can say what they want, i enjoy myself and that's the most important thing.
