In the end neither side could break the deadlock giving the tournament its second golaess draw which had Chinedu talking in his post match interview:

The last game was quite physical and challenging. We wanted to win this one but I guess we can start from somewhere. Chinedu said in his post match interview with Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo

Its not in our hands we know but i feel we can do it. I'm personally happy i did my part for the clean sheet in the point, unfortunately my brothers had a challenging day attacking wise but i feel they will get on the scoresheet against Rivers United.

Elsewhere the pride of Rivers became the first team to be sent home from Lagos after being denied by Akwa United defensive masterclass from Wisdom Ndon and the crew.

Both teams shared the spoils at half time heading into the locker room until Uche Collins struck in the 55th minute to put Akwa United in front at the expense of their south south rivals. Akwa United henceforth stayed resolute in defense especially after the substitution of goalscorer Uche Collins two minutes after scoring.

The defensive thickness proved unbreakable till the end of ninety minutes as Akwa United saw off Rivers United and became the first team to punch a ticket into the final four despite being the first wildcard team in the main tournament. The credit will agurably go to match winner Uche Collins who had earlier promised a better performance after firing blank in the opening game.

"It was a tough game. I actually thought the opening game was tough but this was tougher. All thanks to the almighty we made it and I'm grateful for that" Ndon told Orange Football Magazine.
