ONOVO DAZZLES ON FORMER HOME RETURN DESPITE SUNSHINE DEFEAT

Sunshine Stars headed into match week eight expecting a fight against 9th place Dakkada who had lost consecutive home games and stared relegation in face for a second consecutive season hoping to steal three points from the orange boys.

They were boosted by the return of ex Akwa United wingers Stephen Chukwude and David Onovo as well as ex Dakkada defender Ekerette Udom who were all making their returns to the iconic Nest Of Champions.

However, the return didn't start quite occasionally as expected as the hosts went ahead through an own goal in the 68th minute from Sunshine Stars. That happened before the equalizer came in barely five minutes later from former Dakkada defender Ekerette Udom who marked his return by heading in from a cross. But the hosts wouldn't be kept out for long as just seventy five seconds after conceding Dakkada went ahead through a controversial goal from Abdoulaye Karim.

The evaluation of the Sunshine Stars players at full time nonetheless was very impressive especially for ex Akwa United winger David Onovo who along side Stephen Chukwude kept switching positions on the different flanks to their advantage. Onovo won the most duels by any attacker in the game with 4/4. He further boasted of 4 shots unfortunately all which were off target and created 4 more chances which were not properly utilized by the Akure Gunners

His movement and contribution to the game wasn't really surprising to the fans especially when his name was seen on the back of his shirt and the home crowd could remember his exploits immediately last season with Akwa United as he also started and completely finished the game for the fourth successive game showing his efforts for manager Edith Agoye didn't go unnoticed.

Sunshine's next and last game before the election break will be home tie against Wikki Tourists in a fixture in which Onovo will be aiming for his third successive assist at home or more.
