NORTH MACEDONIA STARLET ABIOLA BAMIJOKO ADMITS READINESS FOR NIGERIA IN THE FUTURE



One of Europe's potential future break out stars has declared his original love and support for his fatherland of Nigeria and has claimed his readiness to give his all should the chance come.

Abiola Bamijoko is a professional footballer who currently plays as a centre-back for the Danish club Sønderjyske U19 and also represents the North Macedonia national under-19 team on the international level.


Bamijoko was born in Helsinki, Finland, to a Nigerian father and a mother of Macedonian and Turkish descent from Resen. He is fluent in Finnish, Macedonian, Serbian, English, and Italian. The youngster began his football career at a young age in Finland, joining HJK's youth team at the age of 6. After turning 16, he was called up to the North Macedonia Youth Team. Bamijoko made his debut in a U-17 game against Austria in May 2022, solidifying his place in the Macedonian youth setup.

His career then took him to Italy, where he joined Sampdoria's U18 squad. This period in Italy was pivotal for Bamijoko's development as a player. In 2023, he moved to the Finnish club Helsinki IFK for the 2023 season before joining Danish outfit Sønderjyske U19.

Speaking to popular Nigerian journalist and famed Radio presenter Festus Dada in an Interview - Abiola narrated the start of his exciting career as a special guest on the Sports Marathon Show which was live on Comfort 95.1 FM Uyo.

"I started my career at six, leaving Nigeria. Then I joined an academy in Finland before I was able to sign my first contract in Italy with Sampdoria. Since then,my family gained interest in my footballing journey." - The talented defender explained.

When questioned about his chances in the future with Nigeria - he confessed his love and readiness for his father's country spelling it out that he didn't care about his current engagement - his main target was the green, white and green.

"I would love to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite the fact that I'm with North Macedonia. I don't care which opportunity might come – maybe the under 20, under 23, any age grade football, even the Super Eagles. I'm ready, and when the time is right, it will come." - He added.

Taribo West has been my role model when it comes to football in Nigeria. He has inspired my style of play, and I enjoyed watching him. I also love watching Jay Jay Okocha as well - On his idols in the Super Eagles set up through the years.

It certainly does look like Bamijoko will be a star to monintor for the future concerning the central defensive department of the Super Eagles. 

The likes of William Troost Ekong and Leon Balogun have already proven that some of the best talents in that position in the national team of recent have come from Europe to switch allegiance to the Giants of Africa and we await to see what prospects he continues to put out as he transitions into a senior team athlete.
