There had been uncertainty about how many teams would qualify for the 2025 Africa U17 Cup of Nations from the tournament in Ghana. However, just minutes before kick-off, it was confirmed that Cote d’Ivoire, already in the final, would host next year’s continental finals.
With Cote d’Ivoire as hosts and guaranteed a spot, both Burkina Faso (regardless of the final match's outcome) and the winner of the third-place match earlier that day were assured of places in Abidjan.
Nigeria had earlier lost to baby elephants in the semi final of the present tournament which put the qualification hopes of the defending champions in jeopardy - along with hosts Ghana who lost to Burkina Faso in the other semi final game.
