CLINTON JEPTHA SCORES AS TORNADOES FALL TO AKWA

 


Niger Tornadoes faced a formidable Ubong Friday, whose remarkable performance propelled his team to a surprising 4-1 victory over the visitors.


The Ikon Allah Boys entered the match with confidence from their recent decent results but were overwhelmed by the hosts, who were desperate for points to avoid relegation.

In the second half, the Ikon Allah Boys approached cautiously, but the hosts continued their dominance. Ubong Friday secured his hat-trick by converting Sani Suleiman's cross from a corner kick, effectively putting the game out of reach.


Any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Salomon Chigoziem was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty converted by Ubong Friday.




Clinton Jephta managed to score a consolation goal for the Ikon Allah Boys, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome. Jephta's goal marked his fifth in four games for Niger Tornadoes, showcasing his impactful return to the team.

Despite the defeat, Tornadoes only slipped one place in the standings, now sitting in 10th position as they prepare to face Doma United in their next match.
