Nigeria Super Eagles head Coach José Santos Peseiro has invited twenty three players including team captain Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, and Ademola Lookman as well as a host of other players to camp, ahead of this month’s 2024 AFCON qualifying fixture against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau.
Nigeria will play Guinea Bissau clash at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Friday, 24th March by 5pm, before traveling to the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Monday, 27th March, in a fixture also scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time
The list comprises of major superstars including one of Europe's best strikers and Italian foreign athlete of the 2023 victor Osimhen who has scored 23 goals for Napoli this season as well as Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho who recently got nominated for the Premier League February Player Of The month of February. In form Villarreal winger Samuel chukwueze also make the cut alongside Terrem Moffi who cant stop scoring in France and Alex Iwobi, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The Portuguese has also handed out invitation to potential debutantes includig Nigerian Champions Rivers United goalkeeper Victor Sochima is having nice campaign so far both in the country and on the African Continent. Daniel Bameyi was the captain of the U20 Flying eagles from the just concluded touranment in Egypt where he helped Nigeria clinch the bronze medal.

But in every squad there will always be questions raised and asked over the inclusion and exclusion of a certain players. The likes of Gift Orban, who yesterday scored the fastest ever hatrick in Europe for Gent has been excluded. The likes of Odion Ighalo have aslo been overlooked and surprisingly Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo who has had a terrible season so far get into the squad along with teammate Paul Onuachu.
However, the supporters of the national team will hope that Nigeria come top and pick an early ticket to the tournament at the expense of the other three teams having clearly dominated the gruop op far.
