ANOTHER ASSIST FOR DAVID ONOVO AS SUNSHINE SINK TORNADOES IN AKURE


With three wins and a draw culminating in a four match unbeaten run at home for Sunshine stars in a very unpredictable Nigerian Premier League season, its all smiles once again in the South western franchise as they saw off a challenging opposition in the name of Niger Tornadoes on a busy Sunday afternoon.



But however complicated the game would turn out eventually, it wouldn't be too much of a challenge for in form winger David Onovo who in just his fourth start provided the opening assist for the goal to break the deadlock at the Akure Township Stadium. The assist proving the most impressive of all his chances created as it enabled fellow new team mate and Defender Ekerette Udom get on the score sheet after 12 minutes of play from a beautiful cross into the box.


The former Akwa United winger who had said in a recent interview that was eager to inflict injuries on the visitors kept his promise and was a thorn in the flesh so much that he became a menace to the opposition defence This did come in the second half minutes after Samson Olasupo had doubled the lead for the hosts in the 30th minute. 

 "It always feels good to help the team either with a goal or an assist and today I was more than happy to help. God willing I can do more and more to enable us finish higher in the table"— Onovo told NPFL TransferMarket on Sunday. 




Sunshine Star's next fixture comes a day after St. Valentines day against Dakkada FC on Wednesday when the duo of David Onovo and Ekerette Udom who combined to score the opener for coach Edith Agoye's men will return to the Nest of Champions, a ground in which they both had just recently plied their trade for both Akwa United and Dakkada FC respectively. 


The owena waves currently sit fourth on the log with 12 Points, a point behind Rivers United with 13 points who have a game less due to continental action over the weekend and can overthrow the defending champions of the league with a solid performance in Uyo once again as all eyes will be on David Onovo to work his magic once more.
