THE THREE POINTS FELT DESERVED - IKEAGWU THANKGOD

Kwara United Football Club marked their return to the victory column on Saturday, January 20, 2023, triumphing over Sunshine Stars of Akure with a lone goal during the Matchday 19 clash in the 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Main-Bowl of the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin.

Displaying a blend of caution and determination following their previous home loss to Lobi Stars in Matchday 17, Kwara United took control of the game. Emmanuel Ogbole secured an early goal in the 14th minute after a skillful play by Samuel Ayanrinde, who eluded three defenders and delivered a precise pass.

Despite numerous scoring opportunities created by Issa Gata, Ayanrinde, Godwin Oshagbemi, and Ogbole, Kwara United couldn't expand their lead.

Making strategic substitutions in the 83rd minute with Kabir Balogun and ThankGod Ikeagwu coming on, Kwara United fortified their midfield. Ikeagwu, entering the game, bolstered the team's resilience against any late Sunshine Stars attacks.

In a post-game interview, the defensive midfielder stated,

"I feel like we prepared well for the game and the result can say that.I felt well deserved the win. Sunshine Stars is not an easy team. This win means so much to us, and we give all glory to God."
