Akwa United went into the final match week of the 2023/2024 Nigerian Premier Football League looking to push themselves out of the relegation zone with a win against high flying Rangers International of Enugu.
It was going to be more than a tough task ahead, the promise keepers had not beaten Enugu at home since 2018, a run that culminates into six years and six games in the league at the Nest of Champions.

However, on Sunday the game was played at the temporary home ground of the promise keepers - The Eket Stadium, which in all fairness hasn't been too fruitful to Promise Keepers in terms of harnessing three points.
Meanwhile, it was the first time that both longest serving forward Ubong Friday and longest serving defender David Phillip would start at home this season for the promise keepers at home.
