The teams efforts in the second division of the country's football system would be thwarted by the disciplinary hands of the Nigerian National League board following insecurity and crowd trouble from one of their league games and thus leading to a subtraction of points that should have taken The Desert Stars back to the top flight for the first time since 2018.

Nonetheless his team would be given another chance to shine in the Naija Super 8 tournament in Lagos. Through the qualifying series when they knocked out Katsina United 2-1 in Eket, Chinedu boasted of two clean sheets in the process which led him to a move to Katsina United.

Katsina United kicked off their 2023/2023 Nigerian Premier Football League season with a home test against a tricky Kwara United at the Mohammadu Dikko stadium in a game that saw featured a handful of debutants for the both sides - one of those key names being like Chinedu Ozor who started his first game keeping a clean sheet against the likes of Paul Samson, Sadeeq Yusuf and Samuel Ayanrinde and the rest of the harmony boys troops.

Chinedu and Katsina United will next travel to Kano to play Kano Pillars in their second Nigerian Premier Football League game away from home at the Sani Abacha stadium in a game which Coach Tony Bolus hopes his team along with the experienced Ozor Chinedu push for a win or at least hold on for a draw in their match week two encounter.
