The Bundesliga's official website announced, "The Nigerian striker triumphed over strong contenders like Harry Kane and Kevin Behrens to claim the award, established by the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga in 2018/19 in partnership with EA Sports, the Bundesliga's official licensing partner. The winner is determined through a two-stage process, combining the players' individual performance data with votes from fans and experts. The August award recognizes outstanding performances during Matchdays 1 and 2 of the season."

Boniface's impact on Leverkusen has been nothing short of spectacular. In just three matches, he has already scored four goals and provided two assists, catapulting Leverkusen to the summit of the three-week-old season.

But it's not just his goal-scoring prowess that has caught the attention of fans and experts alike. Boniface's relentless work ethic has left an indelible mark on the league. He currently boasts the highest number of challenges contested in the Bundesliga, with a staggering 54 challenges under his belt. Furthermore, his fierce pressing has resulted in a 43 percent success rate.

In a rare feat, Boniface also secured the Rookie of the Month award, becoming the first player since Erling Haaland in 2020 to be named both Player and Rookie of the Month in the same period.

As anticipation mounts, football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the upcoming showdown between Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. Both teams share identical records, but Boniface's side leads the league, having scored more goals.

In a fitting addition to his remarkable journey, Boniface made his debut for the Super Eagles last Sunday. He played a pivotal role in creating the sixth goal scored by Samuel Chukwueze against Sao Tome and Principe.
