EIGHT NIGERIAN PREMIER LEAGUE STARS TO WATCH IN THE FINAL MATCHWEEK



The Nigerian Premier Football League 2023 season comes to a climax this weekend in ten different centres in the country and Orange Football Magazine in partnership with NPFL TransferMarket has their eyes focused on some serious talents aimimg to end the campaign on a high for their respective clubs:

DAVID ONOVO - SUNSHINE STARS


David Onovo has started 14 games for Sunshine Stars so far this season and is the joint most productive player with seven goals + assists which is leveled with Samson Olasupo (six goals and one assist).

The winger is eager to end the season on a high with the Owena Waves who currently sit fourth in Group B of the Nigerian Premier Football League with 24 points from 17 games and can still make into the NPFL Super Six Championhip Playoffs if they finish ahead of third place Doma United who are currently on 26 points.

  
MOSES EFFIONG - AKWA UNITED


Moses ffiong still has strong faith in Akwa United qulfying for the super six and feels the club can beat Gombe United away from home on the final day as they aim to qualify for the NPFL Super Six Playoffs .


This has to be the most important game of the season and i believe we are motivated to win and hope results go our way elsewhere - Moses Effiong. 



Chigozie Chilekwu has shown that form is tempoary and class is permanent this season for Enyimba in the Nigerian Federations Cup League prior to their exit at the hands of Plateau United in the round of 32 on penalties.

He hasn't played a single minute all season in the Nigerian Premier Football League but has kept a clean sheet and scored a free kick in the two FA cup games he started for Enyimba and will be hoping hes called upon by Finidi George to help the team secure their supor on the final day agaist Shooting Stars.


The last couple of weeks have been very tough but that's football of course. Most important now is that we come together to end the season a high when we travel to Remo on the final day.- Adeyinka speaking on Remo Stars vs Kwara United.

Akwa United fans will hope their former shot stopper denies the sky blue stars any scoring oppurtuniutes on sunday in their quest to make it into the last three, the Harmony Boys of Kwara United on the other hand are assured a place in next seasons Nigerian Premier Football League after Adeyinka's clean sheet came to the aid the previous matchday.

MICAH OJODOMO - BENDEL INSURANCE

Having already qualifyed for the NPFL Super Six Championhip Playoffs Bendel Insurance fans will expect coach Monday Odigie to hand out out playing time to winger Micah Ojodomo this wekend who is now a 100% fit following concerns of a serious nose injury earlier in the season in a Nigerian Premier Football League match against Enyimba.

UCHE COLLINS - AKWA UNITED 


I realized my mistakes from the last game and it only made me put in more work - Uche Collins 

The striker who had been named NPFL TransferMarket young player for the month of March didn't have his best performance agsinst El Kanemi warrior two weeks ago but has pleged near prfection in their must win trip to Gombe United on Sunday as he aims to add to his six goals and two assits this seaon.


CHIJIOKE MBAOMA - ENYIMBA INTERNATIONAL

Enyimba need a win away at Shooting Stars and obvioulsy if legaue top scorer Chukwuemeka Obioma who recently scopped the player of the months of March and April dosnt come to the party, Mbaoma who has three goals and three assits this season will always be available.

Austin Osayande may or may not be avaialable for Enugu Rangers last fixture which is at home to defending champions Rivers United. He still has the three assits so far since joining in March and is a player the fans of the flying antelopes would want to see on the pitch.

Rangers sit seventh on the log in Group B of the Nigerian Premier Football League with 20 points from 17 games under the tutelage of Abdu Maikaba and are safe from relegation as well.

BONUS STAR: JAMES AJAKO - AKWA UNITED


James Ajako is undoubtedly Akwa United's most expesive player and the best left back in the Nigerian Premier Football League this season with two goals, four assits and seven clean sheets. He also has a perfect penalty record of two goals from two penalty shootouts (one coming against Dakkada in the Akwa Ibom FA Cup and the other vs EFCC in the round of 32 of the
 Nigerian Federations Cup
)

Akwa United sit fourth in group A with 29 points from 17 games, a point behind Remo Stars and two behind Enyimba heading into final day.
